......actual color
sounder pictures. For these reasons
Rik neither accepts advertisements or sponsors which would only
serve to clutter the text. Nor does he allow it to be sold in tackle
stores that push pretty packages that may yield a higher profit. For
the same reasons, he will not allow an uninformed salesman to push a
"neat guy" product. Rik cuts out the B.S. and the
middleman as the only place this is available is through his
website. This should hit home to any of you who have purchased a new
boat and had much less than adequate electronics. Although,
represented as the best, newest, hottest equipment ever. (Cheesy
equipment at a high price meant to be a part of the package.) To the
new owners dismay only to find out a few months later when they
start comparing catches and equipment with fishermen who know the
difference. Rik is so certain of these spots that he guarantees
personal help should you have questions or problems he will help you
do what it takes to assure your success in fish finding. If you have
tried to contact the competition without success try the
"Rik-fix". Remember that all fishing spots in the Gulf
have a natural life. Rik checks his spots in an on going basis so
that the smaller wrecks, movable objects, or obstructions that have
been broken and scattered by shrimpers nets or storms and current
are omitted. If you have ever spent valuable time, money, and fuel
looking for spots you cannot locate, use the "Rik-fix".
Old readings and spots that should not be in the book for the above
reasons and more will be deleted in an on going basis with the same
zest that new readings are added. This is the 14th re-writing in
well over a decade. Every word is carefully chosen for meaning. For
example: Rik states in the book that fishing is both a science and
an art. Rik was recently challenged on this statement. The customer
stated that with today's electronics it is strictly science. Rik
asked him, is your sounder an exact camera picture of the seabed
floor, structure and fish? He replied that the high dollar sounder
used a top of the line through hull transducer to send a strong
signal to be reflected back to the unit, which displayed an accurate
picture on the screen. Rik then proved his point by telling him he
was exactly right. This is a picture or rendition of the bottom,
fish, and more. The art is reading and understanding the sounder as
it paints its picture! The finest electronics made will not take the
place of experience interpreting the picture or knowing exactly how
to adjust your machine to the maximum. Just as a computer comes with
default settings everyone knows that proper settings can increase
the power and clarity of any unit. (Sometimes this means going
beyond the bounds of an owner's manual.) Even with the large volume
of e-mail, calls, and letters, Rik will personally answer each
inquiry...................BACK
